Accessibility Statement — The Everyday Christ
Everyone should be able to read these stories. Here’s where the site stands today, and how to tell us when something gets in the way.
Last updated October 6, 2026
01Our commitment
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA across the whole site, and we treat any barrier you report as a fault to be fixed rather than a request to be considered.
02What is in place today
The site has been built with the following in mind:
- Every page can be operated by keyboard alone, with a visible focus ring on each interactive element.
- Headings, landmarks, and lists are marked up semantically so screen readers can navigate by structure.
- Text and interface colors are checked against WCAG contrast minimums in both light and dark themes.
- A light and dark theme are both offered, and the site follows your system preference by default.
- Artwork carries descriptive alternative text, and decorative effects are hidden from assistive technology.
- Motion — drifting particles, fades, and glows — is reduced or stopped when your device requests reduced motion.
- Text can be enlarged to 200% and the layout reflows to narrow screens without loss of content.
- Form fields have permanent visible labels, hints, and error messages tied to the field they describe.
03Known limitations
We would rather name these than imply they do not exist:
- Some older story artwork has brief alternative text that does not fully describe the scene; we are rewriting these.
- The store and any checkout are run by a third party whose accessibility we do not control.
04Assessment
The site is reviewed by the person who builds it, using keyboard-only testing, screen reader spot checks, and automated contrast and markup checks. It has not yet been audited by an independent third party.
05Telling us about a barrier
Email hello@theeverydaychrist.com with the page and what happened. We aim to reply within five working days and to fix confirmed Level AA barriers within 30 days.
If you would like to share a story but the form itself is a barrier, write it in an email instead and we will enter it for you, exactly as you send it.
06Formats on request
Any story or page here can be sent to you as plain text, large print, or another format that suits you better. Just ask.
